Rawalpindi: Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity, trying on different musical styles to find what fits. But then there are others that emerge fully formed, in complete command of their craft, their identity and their music.

Bakshi Brothers consisting of Aafi Bakshi (BSS Kindergarten Branch Satellite Town), Sherry Bakshi (BSS Newlands Islamabad), Bilal Bakshi and Yawar Bakshi (BSS Primary Branch Satellite Town) fit firmly in the latter category.

Beaconhouse is proud to announce that these immensely talented brothers not only started their academic but also their professional careers as music teachers from BSS and are still a part of it.

Aafi, Bilal, Shehryar and Yawar joined forces in 2012 to produce modern renditions of traditional folk merged with Qawwali and were met with instant praise from their audience. Sons of Azam Bakshi, the legendary classical singer, and tabla player Ajmal Khan, winner of the pride of performance award, the passion for creating quality music is hereditary and seems to run in their blood.

The four musicians recently enjoyed a stint on the airwaves, playing a song on one of Pakistan’s biggest musical platforms, Coke Studio Season 8. The band has also played many shows across the country as well as performed at the SAARC Conference in 2013. The future undoubtedly is bright for these young, determined and focused lads and we would like to wish them the very best of luck in all their endeavours.
