Lahore: Beaconhouse CSBC celebrated Opera, 2017 with great enthusiasm and gusto from January 30 to February 3, 2017. A student-based management team actively worked in collaboration with the school administration and teaching faculty to organise the event. Day one paid tribute to our beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH) in a Naat Competition. Renowned scholar, writer, educationist, TV Host and Naat Khawan, Mr Abdul Majeed Chhatha honoured us as a judge. In his critique he appreciated the participants and offered advice for further improvement.

Day two commenced with the Sir Syed Bilingual Declamation Contest. Ms Farzana Hadi and Mr Muhammad Nadeem Chohan presided the event as judges for English while Syed Ali Raza Bukhari and Ali Ahmed judged the Urdu Declamation category. English and Urdu speakers shared insightful and thought-provoking ideas. In their critique, the judges appreciated the speakers for their efforts. In the Urdu category, Saifullah (Iqbal Productions) gained first position, Salman Yousaf (Sharif Education) earned the second position and Tehreem Tahir (CSGC Girls) earned the third position. In the English category, Waleed Ahmed won first position, Ifrah Dar (CSC Girls) won the second position and Huma Nasir earned the third position. The second session of the day featured one act plays which instantly entranced the audience. The Best Actor of the event award went to Hamza Magoon from BSS ALJT campus while the Best Actress award went to Nawal from BSS CSGC. The Best Act was won by BSS ALJT.

Day three brought further glorious moments and wins for its participants from a number of schools showcasing their talents in the Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Science Olympiad as well as Documentary-Making and Young Entrepreneur Challenge (Business Model and Ad-Making).

The judges for the Science Olympiad, COMSATS Head of Department of Chemical Engineering Dr Asad Khan and Punjab University Assistant Professor Dr Abdul Rehman, meticulously explored the projects on display.

The Final Day of Opera 2017 was wrapped up in sweet melodies and tunes as several participants sang their hearts out to win a spot for themselves in the music competition ‘Har Taan Hai Deepak’. Popular TV Artist and Singer Farhana Maqsood and Nayab Ali Khan, nephew of Amanat Ali Khan, judged the event and praised the participants for their range and ability. In the Semi-classical range, Ghias Haider, Unique Group of Institutes, outshined all. Minahil Raza from Johar Town Campus Girls won in the Ghazal Category whereas Areeba Zulfiqar of CSCG was declared the runner-up in the same category. In the Folk Category, Shayan Sajid from BSS Model Town Boys stood as the winner and Fatima Ali of CSCG was declared the runner-up. On the same evening, a fashion runway and social night was arranged at the campus. It was a special evening for the senior school students who had a great time. Several schools competed to win the best male and female model. The winner of the Best Male Model was Asfand Nauman of CSBC whereas the Best Female Model was Aman Shahjahan of CSGC. The dance performances by Marl Bro’s and the fireworks added much flare and grandeur to the social night.

The Opera 2017 grand activity week at Beaconhouse CSBC culminated with the Award Ceremony. All of the winners received their awards and certificates. Parents of the winners were also invited as Mr Jawad Ahmed from Geo TV graced the occasion as chief guest.
