Karachi: Students and staff members at Beaconhouse PECHS KG-I bloomed with colours and smiles as they took part in an enchanting Learning Festival on March 11, 2017. The festival succeeded with the hard work and dedication of the school staff as they aimed to give parents and children the opportunity to indulge in fun learning activities together, while staying active and involved throughout the day. Different learning areas that were set-up at the festival clearly depicted the development and practice of the different attributes of the Beaconhouse Learner Profile. An information desk guided and introduced the activity programme to the visitors. It was enthralling to see our ‘Talking Encyclopedias’ speak on global issues like pollution, extinct animals and plants while parents questioned them. The Math Wizards challenged the audience by asking and answering complicated math problems.

A colourful learning station was laid out to show ‘Learning through Play at Beaconhouse’. A photo-booth was set-up where memorable family moments were captured using attractive and fun props. Puppet shows based on the famous stories “Red Riding Hood” and “The Gingerbread Man” fascinated the audience. The potter’s wheel, a gaming zone, art-n-craft, clay work, glass painting and block printing displays added a dazzle to the event. The latest teaching and learning technology tools were displayed at the IT hub where parents and children felt intrigued to experiment and learn. The ‘Core Readers of Beaconhouse’ were also introduced by confident students. The cultural performance, English and Urdu role-plays by our Kindergarten students and an “Around the World” ramp-walk by our Nursery students stole the show. Storytelling and Urdu ICT activities were also a part of this glamorous and fun-filled day.
