Lahore: Beaconhouse Defence Campus organised an English Declamation Contest for Class VIII on April 21, 2017. An array of speakers kept the audience captivated with both serious and humorous speeches. The serious speakers tried to convince the listeners about the truth behind the famous proverb “The wise act, the unwise react”, while the humorous speakers displayed their wittiness with their jovial take on topic “Keep calm and join the bully”.

The panel of judges included O Level English teachers Ms Fatima Rashed and Mr Qaiser Bukhsh, who evaluated the debates on the basis of content, style, pronunciation and delivery. Following the judges' decision, an award ceremony was held to announce the winners. In the serious category, Muhammad Ahmed of Class VIII-White secured the first prize, while Lintah Rasheed of Class VIII-Silver grabbed the second prize. In the humorous category, Sarah Amer of Class VIII-Gold won the first prize and Usman Naeem of Class VIII-White attained the second prize.

The students’ efforts and brilliant performance was greatly appreciated during the prize distribution ceremony. The Principal presented certificates and prizes to the winners. She also appreciated the efforts made by the English teachers of Class VIII in providing guidance and training to the brilliant young speakers.
