Lahore: Defence Day is a national day, celebrated each year on September 6, to commemorate Pakistan's successful defence against India that marked the ceasefire in the 1965 war. Several brave army officers sacrificed their lives for Pakistan and were awarded the prestigious “Nishan-e-Haider” for their acts of exceptional bravery. Special assembly presentations were organised all through the week to commemorate this historic day, pay tribute to our national heroes, declare our love for our nation and discuss where we want to take it in the coming years. Students also viewed a presentation about Defence Day, focusing on the differences between commonly held views regarding the war and historical accounts as told by Pakistan Army personnel, Indian Army personnel and neutral observers.
