JT Medley 2017 News Story

Lahore: Beaconhouse JTC Girls Branch organised the grand JT Medley 2017 from October 24 to 26, 2017. The event had a range of interesting inter-school competitions taking place in which numerous schools participated, including several branches of Beaconhouse, LGS, Lacas and SISA.

Contests of Mushaira and Teht-ul-Lafz or Gaiki were held on the first day in which students beautifully presented their own work and the different works of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and were judged on their fluency and delivery.

Day two opened with the Zainab Hamid Inter-School Bilingual Declamation Competition in which participants passionately delivered speeches in English and Urdu on topics which ranged from humorous to serious. This was followed by ‘Artography’, a theme-based art competition in which students were required to choose one of the three given themes, ‘Still Life’, ‘Calligraphy’ and ‘Abstract Art’, to express their creativity. Simultaneously, the Ishfaq Ahmad Essay Writing Competition was held in which students’ Urdu essay writing skills were put to the test. ‘Math Takra’ was next, comprising five challenging and carefully arranged rounds to check students’ thinking skills and ability to use mathematics in everyday life.

Day three kicked off with the Quiztal Maze Contest which tested students’ knowledge of pure sciences, general knowledge and Pakistan studies and required the participants to apply their knowledge to build models from the materials provided. Later, ‘So You Think You Can Write’, an English short story writing competition, was held in which participants produced original short stories. This was followed by the ‘Behind the Lens’ photography competition that judged the participants’ abilities to capture unique and well-defined images from the around the school. Lastly, the Imtiaz Ali Taj Drama Competition took place where the teams presented gripping performances judged on acting skills, body language and dialogue delivery.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on October 28, 2017 to award the winning teams with trophies. The attendees also enjoyed role play performances and songs performed by Beaconhouse students and a sumptuous dinner that was served at the end of the ceremony. Throughout the JT Medley event, students were engaged in collaborative activities and shared moments of immense excitement.
