Rawalpindi: Classes VIII and IX-Matric students celebrated Earth Day with a special morning assembly on May 3, 2018. The assembly commenced with a beautiful recitation of Surah Rahman by Manahil Fazal of Class IX-Matric followed by its English translation by Zainab Zulfiqar.

The students performed a skit where they envisioned what it would be like to live in a future full of harmful human activity. They emphasised the importance of planting trees and adopting the principles of 3Rs – Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.

Omaymah Hussain and Eman Shafeeque presented an alarming array of facts regarding pollution. Hareem Fatima educated the assembly about noise and light pollution that causes stress and disturbs natural sleep cycle. Jalisha Khalid and Zainab Noor caught the audience's attention with their humorous portrayal of a land flooded with garbage and encouraged natural farming techniques to save the planet. Bisma Mobeen and Arooba Ali talked about the water crisis currently threatening the planet. Malaika Safeer urged industries to adopt green energy production. Eman Ejaz livened up the presentation with an interactive quiz. The assembly ended with a musical tableau that drew attention to our emotional connection with our planet as our homeland.
