Karachi: Beaconhouse North Nazimabad Middle Campus endorsed their commitment to creating a peaceful global community on the occasion of Global Dignity Day, celebrated on October 16, 2019. Throughout the month of October, students participated in a wide array of learning experiences. A banner symbolising the icon of ‘Global Dignity Day’ was hung on campus grounds. Beaconite’s creative work depicting the theme of ‘dignity’ was strung up as well, which added excitement to the ongoing celebrations. During the Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) lessons, students discussed the significance of developing high self-esteem. In Art lessons, they designed posters to spread awareness about dignity, while in their IT lessons, they created online stories depicting their dignity-in-action. A day prior to Global Dignity Day, Students stood hand in hand to create the word ‘Dignity’ to show solidarity with 80 million people celebrating this day across the globe. Adding to the celebrations, a special assembly was organised where students participated in an interactive Panel Discussion themed ‘Dignity: The Way Forward’. The school’s student choir sang a melodious song titled ‘Human Rights’ by Henna Li. Members of the Students’ Council presented ‘Thank You’ cards to the school Support Staff, while few students recited a poem titled ‘Mehnat’ (diligence) by the renowned Urdu poet Altaf Hussain Hali, to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of these staff members. This was followed by a brunch, hosted by the students for the Support Staff.

In class, students participated in a circle-time titled ‘Dignity Dialogue’. The best participant of this activity was awarded the ‘The Dignity Ambassador’ certificate. These ambassadors then took oath to keep up the momentum of the day throughout the year. In a burst of inspiration, students strutted about with their creative expression of dignity through a colourful ‘Dignity Hat Parade’. Throughout the day, students expressed what dignity means to them by writing their responses on ‘Dignity Walls’. Moreover, students, teachers and support staff members enjoyed striking poses behind a thematic photo-booth.
