Rawalpindi: A three day workshop based on ‘Child Protection Awareness’ was conducted at the BSTRP for parents and the support staff. Child Protection coordinators, Ms. Attiya Waheed and Ms. Saba Imran led the workshop to familiarise the attendees of the ‘Beaconhouse Child Protection Policy’. Various scenarios of child abuse were highlighted, with supporting short videos, to educate parents and the staff of the signs they must look out for.

The workshop also discussed the importance of a healthy parent-child relationship. Parents were advised to spend quality with their children, build their confidence, be polite to them, give them a strong sense of security and most importantly, to listen and trust them. A child will only voice their concern or problem, when they know they are trusted and listened to.

O.A. Battista, a Canadian-American chemist and author has wonderfully penned, ‘The best inheritance a parent can give his children is a few minutes of his time each day.’
