Lahore: Musharraf Ali Farooqi, author, novelist, and translator visited the Learning Tower for an interactive storytelling session with the students of Beaconhouse-Newlands.

The Learning Tower was delighted to host a reading of the new children's book Tik-Tik, the Master of Time by none other than the author himself. Spinning enchanting tales for an enraptured audience, Mr Farooqi was at his amazing best when relating the extent of "Moochander's Moustache" to the squeals and clapping of excited children. In him and in his book, the children found a new and endearing friend.

Musharraf came primarily to read to the children, but he also had a brief discussion with senior members of the Literary Society. His book Between Clay and Dust has generated a lot of interest among mature readers.

Farooqi's two most recent novels, Between Clay and Dust (Aleph Book Company) and the illustrated Rabbit Rap: A Fable for Our Times (Viking Penguin), were published to critical acclaim in 2012. Farooqi's earlier novel, The Story of a Widow was shortlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2010, shortlisted for The IMPAC Dublin Literary Award 2010, and nominated for the Canadian Governor General's Literary Award.

Decidedly a man of many talents, it is indeed rare to find an author who can bridge the gap between ages, lands and time. He left the students craving for more and with the promise of another visit.
