Islamabad: On February 18, 2020, Beaconhouse students witnessed an exhilarating show of Newton’s third Law of Motion in action. The Water Rocket competition was held with 126 participating teams from 5 branches, including Beaconhouse Harley Street Branch (HSPR), Beaconhouse Civil Lines Branch (BCLR), Beaconhouse Potohar Campus-A Levels branch, Beaconhouse Potohar Campus- Girls Branch and the host branch: Beaconhouse Potohar Campus-Boys.

To test student understanding towards basic conceptual aerospace technology, contestants were required to create a bottle rocket that used water and air pressure in order to take its lift. All the material was provided at the spot, with two hours’ time limit given to assemble the rocket. Student enthusiasm and adrenaline rush was visible in every launch.

Professional judges including Muhammad Ali Sher, a mechanical engineer from Xian Jiatong University, China and Muhammad Bilal, an electrical engineer from the Foundation University, Islamabad who examined all the models with great attention to detail before passing the final verdict. The rockets were judged on the distance they covered and their innovative design.

The Middle Section shield was won by the BPC-Girls Branch. The host branch, BPC-Boys brought laurels to their branch by winning the Senior Section Trophy along with the House Trophy.
